4 Reasons to Install a Wall-Mounted Electric Fireplace in Your Home Office

Everyone talks about increasing productivity while working from home, but productivity tips are a dime a dozen, and time management isn’t the only way to boost productivity.

There is an intimate connection between inspiration and productivity that can’t be tapped with time management skills. Putting an electric fireplace in your office is one of the easiest ways to generate the inspiration you need to be more productive.

1. Subconscious inspiration and calmness fuel productivity

Have you ever just sat in a room and felt completely uninspired? Yet, moving to a different room you could feel more inspiration? It’s more common than you think.

You may not be able to pinpoint exactly what makes a room feel uninspiring or inspiring because inspiration is often subconscious. For example, having clutter in your peripheral vision while you work can tank inspiration by causing low-level stress.

Generally speaking, anything in your peripheral vision has the potential to inspire you. For example, mounting an electric fireplace on the adjacent wall is a great way to keep your mind calm while you work. Having a fireplace in your peripheral vision will create inspiration and simultaneously regulate stress. In addition to having a warm space, you’ll feel calm seeing the electric flames out of the corner of your eye.

2. You can film YouTube videos from your office

If you’re working from home and you’re a YouTube content creator, having a fireplace in your office will make it easy to film your videos with a nice background. Really, who doesn’t love a good fireplace background?

In a perfect world, you’d have your own filming studio separate from your office. That’s a dream for most content creators and many are able to make it happen. However, when you’re pressed for time and on a budget, creating a separate studio can throw your regular work off-track.

If you don’t have the time or space to film your YouTube videos in a dedicated room, your home office is the obvious first choice. You’ll save time, money, and frustration when all you need to do is set up a tripod and film. Your productivity will naturally increase for both your day job and your YouTube channel content creation.

3. It’s easier to think in a warm space

If your home office is cold, your productivity will suffer. It’s harder to think in cold temperatures, especially when your hands are cold and you need to type.

A study from Cornell University found that insurance company employees made 44% more mistakes in cold environments compared to warm environments. Performance decreased in an exceptionally warm environment as well. The ideal temperature that supports productivity is somewhere around 72-77 degrees Fahrenheit, give or take for individual preferences.

Having an electric heater in your home office makes it easy to regulate the room’s temperature without having to mess with your thermostat. Sometimes a thermostat can make a room too hot too fast. With an electric heater, you can put it on the lowest setting if you just need to take the chill out of the air. Or, you can get one that allows you to adjust the temperature to a specific temperature.

4. You can use an electric fireplace for a quick meditation

Sometimes you just need a quick ten-minute break before hammering out more work. When you have an electric fireplace mounted on your office wall, you can turn your chair to face the fireplace and use it as a meditation tool.

Gaze into the dancing lights of the flames for a few minutes and just zone out. Give yourself a relaxing break without having to leave your office.

Many successful entrepreneurs report increased creativity and focus from taking a few one-minute meditation breaks throughout the day. When you experiment with different forms of quick meditation, you’ll find staring at a fireplace to be one of the most relaxing forms of meditation.

Increasing productivity isn’t limited to strategies

Everyone loves strategies. However, productivity is influenced by a variety of factors, some of which aren’t strategies. It’s time to consider the additional, less visible factors that contribute to productivity.

Every entrepreneur and business owner who wants a warm, inspiring space needs an electric fireplace in their office. While an electric fireplace won’t replicate the flames of a real fire, it will replicate the soothing, calming effect you get from staring at the flames both directly and indirectly.
