What do I get when I purchase Ubi?

When you purchase a package, you get Ubi touch kit and Ubi software. Ubi touch kit includes: a camera, emitter, Ubi pen, mounts and USB cables. You will also receive an email with  the license key for the software immediately upon purchase.

When do I receive my hardware?

Depending on your location and availability, we will typically ship the Ubi Sensor within 2 business days after you place an order.  Shipping takes about 3-5 business days. If you have time sensitive needs, please let us know so that we can prepare accordingly.

What is Ubi Sensor and why should I use it instead of Kinect?

Ubi sensor is a custom hardware provided by Ubi. We recommend you to use Ubi sensor instead of Kinect. Ubi sensor is faster, more responsive and more precise than Kinect.  Ubi sensor also supports simultaneous interaction with your fingers and Ubi Pen. Please read more about it here.

What does touch point mean?

Touch points refer to the number of touch inputs that are simultaneously detected by Ubi. One touch point is sufficient to tap, swipe etc. You need two touch points in order to use fingers to enable functions like zooming in and out on pictures/maps. Twenty touch points can be useful for people looking to have multiple people interacting with the projection at the same time (i.e. drawing on a table top).


What gestures can I use with Ubi?

You can use any Windows 7,8 or 10 gesture when interacting with the display. There is list of them here.

What applications can I use with Ubi?

Ubi issues standard touch and mouse events to all Windows applications. You can use any Windows 7,8 or 10 application.

Hardware

Can I use a Mac ?

Ubi is built to run on Windows on a PC. Support for OS X and Linux is on our roadmap. If you are interested in using Ubi on any of these operating systems, please reach out to us.

Can I use on a Virtual Machine?

No. We do not currently support virtual machines.

Can I use any projector? 

Yes. You can use any projector as long as it has high enough intensity for the image to be visible in your lighting conditions. You could use DVI/VGA/HDMI to connect it with the PC. You could use any resolution higher than 720 pixels. However to avoid shadow during interaction, you may want to use a short distance projector such as Epson PowerLite 1776W or Sharp PG-D2870W

Does my PC have to be touch enabled to use Ubi?

No. You can use a PC without any touch input device.

What sensor can I use with Ubi?

Ubi is built to run with the Ubi Sensor.  The Kinect for Windows V2 and Kinect for Xbox One sensors are also compatible with Ubi but are not actively supported.

Software

What operating system does Ubi support?

Ubi supports Windows 10,8.1,8 and 7. 

What is mouse mode?

In mouse mode, you can use Ubi pen or your fingers to control the mouse cursor.  Compared to touch mode, you will miss some gestures such as swipe to scroll a webpage or advance to the next slide in PowerPoint.

What are the minimum requirement for my PC?

To use Ubi sensor, your PC should meet these minimum requirements -Dual-core, 2.66-GHz or faster processor, USB 2.0 bus, 2 GB of RAM

How many times can I download the software? Can I use it on multiple devices?

You can download as many times as you want. But it can be activated only on one machine. It can be transferred to other devices up to five times.

Can I upgrade to a higher version of the software by paying the difference?

Yes, you can upgrade to a higher version of the software by paying the difference. If you decide to upgrade, we will refund the current version and allow you to purchase your upgrade.

What is your return policy ?

If within 30 days of shipping you are not completely satisfied with your Product purchased from the Store, you may return it to Ubi Interactive for a full or partial refund.

Setup

Can I use any surface?

Ubi works on any flat surface including glass panels and whiteboards. The surface ha to be hard enough so that, when a user touches it, it does not move.

Can I use a TV screen?

You can use a TV screen with Ubi sensor, as long as you protect the screen with a transparent surface. The Ubi Emitter will have to be mounted on this surface.

Can I use rear projection? 

Yes. Rear projection works well, you have the option to place the camera in the front or back of the pojection surface.

What is the maximum display size I can use with Ubi?

The maximum display size we can currently support is 80″. You can also have two 80″ displays side by side, providing you a long extended screen experience.
