The Evolution of CAD Software

CAD software

Computer-aided design, also known as CAD, forever changed the way that engineers, architects and other professional designers were able to bring ideas to life. The early days of blueprinting were tedious and riddled with errors, as designers relied on physical tools to draw concepts.

Today, CAD software is a product of decades of work, to transform the earliest models into accessible and user-friendly interfaces that people everywhere know and love. Originally, CAD software was highly expensive and was tethered to a monitor at a work station. After careful development, CAD was able to become compatible on many different processing systems, such as Windows, and eventually on newer devices. Nearly anyone, from students to creatives to even kids can use CAD software to design something new. This increase in accessibility has sparked interest groups across the globe, inspiring conferences and speakers that rally CAD enthusiasts to drive forward the future of its evolution.

The future is bright for CAD, with talks of AI integration beginning to come to fruition. This would mean designers can get the help they need from virtual assistants and companions. Especially with the help of artificial intelligence, there is no telling the heights that CAD will reach moving forward.
